Natural Health Tip - Stress is Dis-ease

We continue here with ideas on how to distress with Dr. Joe Culbertson’s series on the importance of the spine in natural health.
The spine is constantly moving as it mirrors our thoughts.
From this perspective then, perhaps it becomes a little easier to understand why ‘back problems’ are so prevalent and why they are so difficult to change. As we are constantly thinking, our spine is pretty much always in a state of flux. This dynamic structure is constantly shifting and changing, or at least it appears that this is its true nature. However, when the mechanics are distorted things get stuck, become stagnant, and eventually breakdown and degenerate. This is the point where active symptoms occur.
Let’s look at this a little closer. Let’s just take two vertebrae that are next to each other. With one on top of the other, they are joined by joints and separated by a disc. Between these connections on either side, a nerve comes out going to a specific part of the body. As long as the vertebrae remain in their original normal healthy alignment, the tissue of this area remains healthy and the nerves are able to carry a proper and effective nerve supply to their part of the body. But if we incur some negative thinking about something in our life that influences this area, the positioning of these two vertebrae is slightly altered. This distortion may cause some slight irritation and/or abnormal wear and tear, but for the most part you wouldn’t notice this situation. Yet this deviation is usually enough to impact those nerves coming out on either side which has a detrimental effect in the area of the body the nerves go to. The organs, systems, muscles and other tissue become more susceptible to disease and degeneration.
More often than not this distortion remains as does the aberrant nerve supply. This then makes this area a little more susceptible to trauma or further misalignment. Sooner or later, due to this or that, the structural relationship between these two vertebrae worsens. (Here I’d like to interject something from my experience. What I noticed over the 30 years I practiced was that most of the severe and so called acute onsets of back pain seemingly came out of nowhere or from an action or accident that was, in itself, a rather minor event. As a matter of fact, many people throw their backs out taking a shower, just twisting to scrub down, not by falling down.) When these two vertebra shift further off their intended relationship, the joints become inflamed, the disc is involved, the nerves are irritated, and the surrounding musculature also becomes inflamed as it spasms in its imbalance. It is usually at this point when you notice your back. The pain and muscle tightening is often so severe that you literally can’t move. Also it is at this point where most people do one of two things. They either seek help from one of the many sources of support available today or they go to bed hoping that with a little rest they will be ‘good as new’ (by now you should have the understanding that most people when they get to this point have long passed that point of ‘good as new’).
Left alone with absolutely no intervention a large percentage of these situations where the two vertebrae have gone too far out of alignment, actually abate and the person swears to have achieved that ‘good as new’ condition.
Then there are the folks that go to the doctors, therapists, and healers, or send out to the drug store or health food store for the latest, greatest chemical. Some respond quickly, others more slowly and always there are those that end up going from thing to thing and/or doctor to doctor with no success at all.
Why?
Misalignments that result in pain are hard for the body to maintain.
In my opinion, the distortion that finally leads to the symptoms we notice is often too far out of alignment to be held by the body. If a person can get out of the field of gravity and mentally relax (which in all cases is the key factor) the two vertebrae sort of naturally shift back to the point that they were at just before this acute exacerbation occurred. Naturally you feel better, good as new, in fact. However, the structural relationship between these two vertebrae is still such that the nerves are being interfered with. In other words, the spine is still in the process of mirroring and thus, so too is the rest of your body.
In the case where you go to the doctor, take something, or do whatever, there are actually two scenarios that can occur. One is that in combination with the tool you have turned to and mental relaxing, the spine again shifts back to it preexisting (albeit aberrant) position. You feel better! This particular situation is by far the most common.
The other successful conclusion to going outside of yourself for help and intervention, would be when the accolades of what you have turned to for help or the charisma of the doctor you have chosen allow your mind to actually shift its thinking process. You absolutely ‘know’ that this will make you better. Your mental vibrations then have a positive effect upon the spine and body. This results in the shifting of the two vertebrae back into an alignment that is normal and healthy. In this case the nerves then are able to carry a normal and healthy signal to the body. You are “good as new”.
